About the role

This is a key role in building and shaping our purchasing function and European supply base. As Operational Purchasing Manager, you will take ownership of establishing the structure, processes, and supplier network needed to support the company’s continued growth.

You will combine strategic supplier development with hands-on operational purchasing, ensuring we have the right suppliers, materials, quality, capacity, cost structure, and delivery performance in place.

The ideal candidate is a commercially driven, hands-on purchasing professional who enjoys building from the ground up, developing strong supplier relationships, and creating a high-performing purchasing organization that supports the company’s long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Develop the Purchasing Team

• Establish and develop the purchasing function, including roles, responsibilities, processes, and ways of working.

• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing purchasing team.

• Establish clear purchasing KPIs, targets, and performance management processes.

Build and Develop the Supply Base

• Develop and implement a supplier strategy aligned with the company’s business and growth plans.

• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers.

• Build a competitive and resilient supplier base with the right balance of cost, quality, capacity, technology, and geographical coverage.

• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, payment terms, lead times, and other purchasing conditions.

• Reduce supplier dependency and supply chain risks through effective sourcing strategies and alternative suppliers.

Operational Purchasing

• Ensure the availability of materials, components, and services required to support ongoing operations.

• Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively resolve shortages, delays, and other supply issues.

• Establish clear purchasing processes, KPIs, and governance.

Key Outcomes

• A capable and high-performing purchasing team established and developed.

• Strong strategic relationships established with key suppliers.

• A competitive, resilient, and well-balanced supplier base in place.

We are looking for

We are looking for a commercially minded purchasing professional who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution and is motivated by building and developing a purchasing function.

To be successful in this role, we believe you have:

• At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.

• Proven experience in supplier development, sourcing, and commercial negotiations.

• Experience in building or developing purchasing organizations is highly valued.

• Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound business decisions.

• Experience working with international suppliers and global supply chains.

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong, long-term supplier relationships while maintaining a clear commercial focus.

• A structured, proactive, and results-oriented approach, with the ability to take ownership and drive initiatives forward.

• Experience leading, developing, and motivating people.

• Excellent English communication skills. Swedish, German, or another relevant language is an advantage.

Our Office

The InfiMotion office is conveniently located within the Uni3 campus at Pumpgatan 1, on Lindholmen in Gothenburg. The office is easily accessible by car, bus, or the newly introduced ferry service.

For those driving, there are parking facilities available around Lindholmen. Please note that ongoing extensive roadworks are in progress to enhance future tram connections which may cause delays and inconvenience.

If you prefer public transport, simply get off at Pumpgatan or Regnbågsgatan when taking the bus. Alternatively, for ferry commuters, you'll get off at the Lundbystrand ferry terminal.
